PHOTO SLIDESHOW: Lee County Library hosts "The Animal Man"

Bob Tarter’s “Weird and Unusual Animals” presentation kicked off the 2011 Summer Reading Program at the Lee County Library on Friday in Tupelo. The wildlife biologist showed off a variety of animals to a crowd of 397 people.

Registration for the reading program began on May 31 with a theme of “One World, Many Stories.” Events will be held at 10 a.m. each Friday. On June 10, Tommy Terrific will entertain with his magic. On June 17, a musical sing-along will be held by Richard Peeples aka “Mr. Richard.” On June 24, Kalimba musician Carl Winters will perform. The last day to turn in summer reading records is July 23, and an awards day program will be held on July 30 at 10 a.m. August 12 will be the last day to pick up certificates.

July will include two summer camps. A camp for 4-6 year olds will be held July 11-15 from 10 a.m. – noon. A camp for 7-11 year olds will be held July 18-22 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
