TUPELO – Placido Domingo Jr. is performing in Tupelo for the first time next weekend.
The son of internationally famous tenor Domingo is a singer, songwriter and producer.
“He has always advised me to enjoy what I am doing above all, be myself and stick to my own style, and to always respect the public since they are the ones that make you or break you ultimately,” Domingo said about his father.
Domingo has written songs for artists like Sarah Brightman, Diana Ross and Riccardo Cocciante.
“I actually enjoy writing very much,” he said. “Singing is a real pleasure as well, and it comes from the heart, I believe.”
His Tupelo show is happening thanks to one of his publicists, Plantersville’s own Faye Moreland, who helped arrange for the show to happen at the Link Centre.
Domingo expects his Tupelo show to be “very mellow, relaxed. I like to interact with the audience a bit, almost like a variety show,” he said.
His concert in Tupelo will follow one in Latvia, and after this show, he’ll travel to South America to perform. He hopes to release a new album soon too, he said.
Domingo invites everyone to enjoy an evening of music at the Link Centre on Sept. 21.
“This is Elvis’ land. The king rules and I am invited to be a part of this great town with such an amazing history,” he said. “Come and hear me and enjoy tunes from the past in the present, with great arrangements.”
