SMITHVILLE – Smithville First Baptist Church will hold a dedication service Sunday for its new building after the F-5 tornado demolished their original facilities in April 2011.
The Rev. Wes White, pastor of the church, said it was challenging to build from scratch, but the two years since the tornado have been years of learning, growth, and dedication
The church will feature a guest pastor in its regular 10 a.m. service, the Rev. Tom Bond, former pastor of Smithville FBC. At 2 p.m., it will hold a special dedication service White described as a “grand open house” to introduce the community to the new church. Dr. Jim Harrington, director of the Monroe County Baptist Association, will deliver a message at the dedication, which will be followed by food and fellowship.
