Spirit to kick off new year with ‘Easy Does It’ program

TUPELO – Ease into 2013 with North Mississippi Medical Center Spirit of Women’s “Easy Does It: Recipes, Décor, Hospitality and More to Simplify Your Life” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Summit Center in Tupelo.
Featured speaker will be Patty Roper, editorial director of Mississippi Magazine, who shares her innovative decorating, entertaining ideas, and easy and delicious recipes in the magazine’s Easy Does It Entertaining, Easy Does It Project, Seasonal, Patty’s Picks, and Patty Loves departments.
Roper has authored five entertaining and recipe books: “Easy Hospitality” “Easy Does It Entertaining,” “At the Table,” “Easy Parties and Wedding Celebrations,” and “Easy Does It – Winners and Favorites.”
A native of Jackson, Roper holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and taught in the Jackson Public Schools for nine years. For the past several years, she has presented many programs on entertaining and gracious living in Mississippi and neighboring states. She entertains family and friends with a simple approach to beauty and elegance with classic Southern recipes.
Tickets for “Easy Does It” are $20 and include dinner. Spirit of Women members who have paid the lifetime $10 membership fee will also receive a free copy of Roper’s “At the Table” cookbook. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for visiting exhibits and shopping vendors. Several door prizes will be awarded, including the grand prize – a custom set of jewelry created especially for Spirit of Women by designer Laura Marlowe.
