TUPELO – The Oren Dunn City Museum will come alive after dark this weekend.

Secrets of the Oren Dunn: Haunted Museum will open this weekend, the first time the museum has hosted a haunted event.

The North Mississippi Junior Civitans created the event.

“We’re calling it ‘Secrets of the Oren Dunn,’ and there will be scary scenarios and creepy creatures,” said Ashley Witcher, North Mississippi Junior Civitan District Governor. “It’s a guided tour, and everyone will be in costumes. Almost everyone has a mask or they’re doing some kind of creepy make-up.”

It’s a no-touch spook fest. Tours begin at 7 p.m. and will continue until midnight.

Tour guides will lead visitors through the outside grounds of the Oren Dunn.

Concessions will be for sale, too.

All of the members of the Junior Civitans – students in grades 6 through 12 – will participate at the Haunted Museum.

All proceeds, Witcher said, will go to the Civitan International Research Center at Birmingham.

“The Oren Dunn has been off-limits at night, so come see the museum in a different light,” Witcher said. “The money goes to a good cause.”
