STS9 returns to the Lyric Oxford

By Sheena Barnett/NEMS Daily Journal

For STS9, making music is about, well, music.

Sound Tribe Sector 9, formerly of Georgia, now of California, is making a name for itself as one of the Must-See Bands currently on tour, by blending its truly unique instrumental rock/jazz/electronic sounds with lights and the live experience.

When they’re not on the road or in the studio creating new music, Hunter Brown, Zac Velmer, David Phipps, Jeffree Lerner and David Murphy, also run their own label, 1320 Records and give back to the community. But, no matter what STS9 does, it all comes back to music.

“In the last year we’ve been able to step it up and really find some help to continue to stay creative, because we’re a band, we’re musicians, and that’s what we wanna do,” Brown said in a phone interview with Scene Now. “We don’t want to get lost in the weeds, so to speak.”
