TUPELO – Tupelo High School teacher Jeramy Turner, who lost more than 200 pounds in less than a year through diet and exercise, will be featured on a February episode of “The Doctors.”
Turner, 35, flew to Los Angeles on Tuesday to tape the syndicated talk show, which he said will air sometime during Sweeps Week.
“I was supposed to tape the background portion of the show on Tuesday afternoon, but I had a 10-hour delay in Atlanta (because of the snowstorm), so we taped the background on Wednesday and the actual show on Thursday,” Turner said.
The show will feature people who have lost 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 pounds.
“And I believe they said there will be someone who has lost 600 pounds, too,” he said.
Turner’s all-expense paid trip included a ticket to the taping of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and a tour of The Original Farmers Market, which was established in Los Angeles in 1934.
“It was a three-mile walk there and it was gorgeous,” he said. “People were in coats, but it was warm and sunny to me. I was like, ‘You people are weenies.’”
Turner will return to Tupelo today and resume his teaching duties.
“Unless,” he said, “Hollywood comes calling again.”
