TUPELO – An Italian celebration is in store for this year’s GumTree Museum Gala.
“Treasures of Italy” is the theme, and the party is set for April 5 at the Tupelo Country Club.
“This is our biggest fundraiser,” said Liz McIntosh, executive director for the GumTree Museum of Art. “This gala celebrates the arts.”
The evening includes a live and silent art auction featuring artists from across the state. Local artists whose works will be auctioned off include Dot Courson, John Armistead and Lucy Gaines.
The band 2 Drink Minimum will perform, and decorations will be done by Tracy Proctor.
There’ll be a buffet dinner and a cash bar.
Money raised at the gala will support the museum’s projects, including exhibits and educational workshops throughout the next year.
The GumTree Museum of Art, formerly known as the Tupelo Artist Guild Inc., was established as a non-profit corporation in 1982. The GumTree Museum of Art opened in 1985.
McIntosh is in her first year as executive director at the museum.
“It sets the stage for the museum’s year,” McIntosh said. “If you’re going to support the museum, this is the way to do it.”
