TCT starting up new
improv comedy group
n Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for its West of Shake Rag Improv Group at 6 p.m. June 21 at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Tupelo.

n The 2009 Oxford Shakespeare Festival will feature Shakespeare’s “Cymbeline” and “The Tempest,” plus Gilbert amp& Sullivan’s “Iolanthe.”
“Cymbeline” will be staged at the University of Mississippi’s Ford Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. Thursday and July 1, as well as 2 p.m. today, Friday, Saturday and July 26.
“The Tempest” will be presented at Meek Hall Auditorium at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday, June 30 and July 2, and 2 p.m. June 21, 25, 27 and July 1.
“Iolanthe” will be presented at Ford Center at 8 p.m. June 25, 26 and 27, and 2 p.m. June 28.
Adult tickets are $14 for Shakespeare’s plays and $18 for “Iolanthe.” For senior citizens and 17 and under, tickets are $11 for Shakespeare’s plays and $14 for “Iolanthe.”

to perform Tuesday
n Ukrainian-born American pianist Inna Faliks will perform Tuesday at the University of Mississippi.
Faliks’ 7 p.m. concert in Nutt Auditorium is part of Ole Miss’ Piano Discoveries Camp, with proceeds going to fund 2010 camp scholarships. Tickets are $8/students and seniors, and $12/general admission.
Faliks is scheduled to perform Beethoven’s amp”Eroica Variations and Fugueamp” and amp”Fantasie Op. 77,amp” Ravel’s amp”Gaspard de la Nuitamp” and two pieces by Russian composer Boris Pasternak, as well as amp”Ballade in Black and Whiteamp” by Jan Fredlin, composed especially for Faliks in 2005.

to stage ‘Catfish Moon’
n Tickets are now on sale for a special showing of Starkville Community Theatre’s award-winning production, “Catfish Moon.”
The play will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Mississippi State University’s McComas Hall Auditorium.
Tickets are $30/for one and $50/for two, and they’re available at the Playhouse on Main box office and at the door.
The production will represent Mississippi and the Southeast in the American Association of Community Theatre’s 2009 Festival in Tacoma, Wash.
