People of faith in Northeast Mississippi are invited to attend two observances of the National Day of Prayer on May 6.
The first event, titled “A time of Prayer and Fasting,” will be held in the west end of the BancorpSouth Arena at 7 a.m. and will be sponsored by Mission Mississippi, a group promoting fellowship and understanding between black and white Christians.
The second event will be held at Tupelo City Hall beginning at 12:15 p.m. Speakers will include Mayor Jack Reed Jr., the Rev. Chad Grayson of Tupelo First Baptist Church and the Rev. Bill Bradford of Lawndale Presbyterian Church.
The National Day of Prayer was started in 1952 by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress.
