It’s been a while since I’ve had a spare minute on a Monday to ask, what did you do this weekend?
Friday was a lot of fun. I caught the matinee of “Insidious.” It’s pretty creepy, but I laughed – in a good way! It felt like a thrill ride. Lots of fun.
Friday night was a special treat, as the CW aired the pilot episode of “Smallville.” The series ends its 10-year run in May, so catching up with the pilot made me (and my mom) and little teary-eyed.
On Saturday night, some friends and I took in the Band of Horses/Kings of Leon show at the FedEx Forum in Memphis.
I saw Band of Horses at the Hi-Tone in Memphis a few years ago, so it was kinda weird to see them at such a huge venue. No matter where, though, those guys are terrific. The band’s sound carries over well live, believe it or not.
Say what you will about Kings of Leon, but that group is wonderful live. I mean, every single song – new or old – sounded perfect. I saw them in Nashville a few years ago and they’ve actually improved. Such a satisfying show.
So, I had a good weekend.
This week should be good, as Album Club is Thursday! We’re meeting at 6 p.m. at the Link Centre to discuss “Diamond Dogs” by David Bowie. It’s our birthday so come have cake with us.
What did you do this weekend?
