What’s Going On – ‘Watchmen,’ Green Day, Ruben Studdard

Merry Wednesday, Scene cats!

Last night I saw Justin Townes Earle and Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit at the Hi-Tone in Memphis. Wonderful show. I’m especially a fan of Earle’s, and he was terrific. I’m telling you – if you love country music, please check out Justin Townes Earle. His music is honest, real…trust me, you won’t be disappointed. And since the show didn’t start til very late (and we didn’t make it back to Tupelo til about 4 a.m.), I’m super-tired. I’ve got some coffee and Jackson Browne’s “The Pretender” helping me feel better…

Don’t forget to check back here tonight/tomorrow for “American Idol” recap! News!

* R.I.P., Uriel Jones.

* The new Green Day album drops in May.

* Who else has an album in stores in May? Why, that would be Ruben Studdard.

* George Lopez is getting his own late-night talk show.

* Good news, “Watchmen” fans – “The Black Freighter” has hit the Web, and the DVD was released yesterday.

* This sounds pretty rad: Anthony Hopkins will star as Ernest Hemingway in a film about Hemingway’s later years.

* The Offspring is going on tour.
