Main Street hosts Christmas open house

AMORY – Main Street is quickly becoming a destination point for shoppers due to a surge in new and expanding businesses alike.
“We have seen a surge of people shopping for antiques, shabby chic furniture, clothing, jewelry and gifts. It’s really exciting for Amory,” said Amory Main Street Association manager Lorie Bryant.
As a push before Christmas, the Main Street Association is hosting the 13th Annual Christmas Open House entitled “Shop Where Santa Shops.”
“Main Street has tried several different Christmas promotions over the years. Last year I added an open house to the second weekend in December as the Christmas Open House. The response was tremendous from the merchant’s, as well as the public. Last year, sales tax revenue for retail sales was up in November and December in Amory. I think it was directly related to the additional open house,” said Bryant.
“Shop Where Santa Shops” at downtown Amory’s open house on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8, during normal business hours. Participating downtown merchants are staying open until 6:30 p.m. every Thursday until Christmas for “Happen’ Holiday Thursdays.” Also, individual stores are having in-store specials and discounts.
