Amory Museum reopens gift shop

AMORY – The gift shop at the Amory Regional Museum is reopening just in time for the holiday gift-giving season.
“We are really excited to get the gift shop back up and going. We needed this in Amory. We get lots of requests for Amory and Mississippi items.

MUSEUM GIFT SHOP – Amory Regional Museum Director Bo Miller looks over the T-shirts and sweatshirts that have just arrived for the museum’s gift shop. The new short sleeve T-shirts are in blue and light brown, while the sweatshirts are in cerine green and honey yellow.  Lots of people like to remember their visit to the museum with a souvenir,” said museum director Bo Miller.

The gift shop has a great inventory of unique gifts. Some are related to Amory and some to Mississippi.
Items included at the museum gift shop are Subway signs; Longitude and latitude signs; Amory Railroad Festival magnets; Train whistles; Amory Christmas ball ornaments; Museum tree ornaments; Tote bags; Amory Centennial coins; John Ward postcards; museum t-shirts; Warhol Amory t-shirts; Amory t-shirts; Amory sweatshirts; and baseball caps.
Books are also available, including “Mississippi Book (stories about influential Mississippians),” “Mississippi: 100 Greatest Football Players of all Times,”
“Cotton Gin Port,” “501 Little Known Facts, Obscure Trivia, World Records & Historical Minutia from Mississippi,” and “Promises I Made My Mother.”
Other items that will be arriving soon are coffee mugs and new Amory postcards made by local artist Blake McCollum.
“It has been fun looking around and finding items to fill the gift shop,” Miller said.
Miller said he is always looking for local artisans who would like to make items just for the gift shop. Anything sold in the gift shop has to be approved by the museum board. Miller can be contacted at 256-2761 for more information about submitting items for the gift shop.
The gift shop hours are the same as the museum, Monday through Friday – 9 a.m .5 p,m.; Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and Sunday – 1-5 p.m.
