Aberdeen to host Mardi Gras celebration on Fat Tuesday

ABERDEEN – As part of the continuing observance of Aberdeen’s 175th birthday, organizers are planning a Mardi Gras celebration on Fat Tuesday, which falls on Feb. 12.
“We figured since New Orleans and the coast have so much fun with Mardi Gras, why not try a low key version here,” said Tina Robbins, director of the Aberdeen Visitor Bureau.
While in the planning stages, the event is set to be a downtown block party to coincide with a red beans and rice fund-raiser at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Le Roux will also serve king cake for the late afternoon event.
