Aberdeen police make late night drug arrest

ABERDEEN – An Aberdeen man is in custody following a routine check of the parking lot of Club Emotion Thursday, according to Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Randle. Darius Blanchard, 22, of Aberdeen, was charged with possession of intent after officers found marijuana in his 2001 Mercury.

“Officers did a route walk through of the parking lot last night and walked up on him. After searching his car, officers found several baggies of marijuana hidden underneath the carpet. We had been watching the suspect for a while,” Randle said.

Officers seized Blanchard’s car, along with roughly $1,250 in cash. Blanchard is currently in the Monroe County Detention Center.

Randle also stated the APD made an arrest last week in connection to a Jan. 12 shooting at the Walker Union Hall. Lemmuel Vasser, 18, of Aberdeen was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is out of jail on a $50,000 bond.

“We had put an officer guard his house and there was no activity. The night of the shooting, someone took him out of town and we arrested him when he returned home last week,” Randle said.
