Four hoops teams’ seasons end in opening round

Four other Monroe County teams saw their basketball seasons come to an end on the road in the opening round of the MHSAA tournament.
The Hamilton Lady Lions (20-10) fell to South Delta 52-43 after being tied at the half. The Lady Lions,  who won the Monroe County tournament earlier in the season, lose five seniors, four of whom are starters, from this year’s team.
The season also came to an end for both Nettleton teams at North Panola. Jabria Pounds led the way for the Lady Tigers with 19 points in their 57-46 loss to North Panola, while Kendall King added another 10 points. The Tigers also lost 60-44 to North Panola in the first round and lose a lone senior in Demetrius Thomas off this year’s team.
The Smithville Seminoles were also handed a 76-54 road loss by Blue Mountain. Jeffrey Ware led the Seminoles with 17 points in the loss.
