Amory man charged with possession of controlled substance

An Amory man has been arrested for possession of a controlled substance (heroin), according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. James Patrick Chaney, 25, was stopped Friday,



March 1 on Highway 6 by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit for a traffic violation. The Monroe County K-9 unit was deployed to the scene where officers found several grams of heroin and a syringe inside the vehicle.

Chaney was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (heroin). Chaney was serving a prior house arrest sentence Mississippi Department of Corrections for a sell of controlled substance in Oktibbeha County.
