Local DAR representatives attend state convention

The Mississippi State Society of the American Revolution held its 107th State Conference at the Hilton Hotel in Jackson Feb. 14-16. Host districts were Delta, District Director Kathy Eubank of Greenville, and Hills, District Director Jo Uptain of Aberdeen. The conference theme was “Yea, I Have a Goodly Heritage.” Cotton Gin Port Chapter Regent Patricia McDivitt represented the chapter at the conference.
State Regent Janet Whittington gave the program on historic preservation, “So you think you love old houses…”
A memorial service for members lost in 2011-12 was held at 2 p.m. at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland.
The National Defense/Award Luncheon was held in the Grand Ballroom with The Right Honorable United States Senator Roger Wicker as featured speaker.
The final business session on Saturday included honoring 50-year members and the election and installation of new officers for 2013-2016.
The State Regent Janet Whittington adjourned the 107th State Conference.
