Trees down throughout Monroe County

According to Monroe County Emergency Management Agency director Bunky Goza, several trees were brought down Monday throughout the county as a result of a storm that moved through earlier this afternoon. Goza said most of the trees reported down were around Hatley, Amory, Greenwood Springs and the Bethlehem community. Crews are working to remove trees and restore power to areas hit hardest by the storm.

Goza reported minimal structural damage. One specific building that sustained damage was a building used by Worldwide Surplus in Prairie, a business that sells furniture and home improvement supplies. The wind peeled back a large section of the tin roof.
