West Union School News 1/18/08

The second semester is under way here at West Union. A congratulation goes to Robin Lindsey for being selected as the Union County teacher of the year. Also, a congratulation goes to Katie Jenkins who has been selected as the HOBY representative for West Union. She will attend the HOBY seminar in Jackson in May. West Union will be hosting the Junior High Union County Basketball Tournament on the 17th, 21st, and the 24th. Last Monday, January 7, the girls bowling team beat East Union 7:1, and the boys won 5:3. They will both be competing in Starkville Thursday, January 17. The girls will play Starkville girls, and the boys will play East Webster. The Spelling Bee winners were Bailey Evans, Brianna Thomas, and Elizabeth Hasley. The Reading Fair first place winners are as followed: Division B-1st grade individual- Haleigh Jamison, Division C-2nd grade individual- Emily Conlee, Division D- 3rd grade individual- Megan Whittington, Division E- 4th-5th grade individual- Olivia Williams, Division F- 6th-8th individual- Beth Conlee, Division G-9th-12th individual- Chelsea Heaton, Division H- K-3rd group- Ms. Youngs class, Division I-4th-8th group- Austin Haynie, Division J-9th 12th group- Dalton Harris, Division K- Family K-3rd- Megan Cooper, Division L- Family 4th-8th- C.J. Burks. On January 23, the 10th grade will tour the Vo-tech building. On January 30, the clubs and basketball teams will take pictures. Here is a thought I am leaving you with. “Never say I cant handle it. When an ant looks at something twice what he can handle, and then carries it home to share, you can handle it.”
