Epting receives championship ring

East Union’s Austin Epting was presented his 2008 State Cross-Country Individual Championship ring during the Union County Tournament.

The senior has enjoyed a stellar career for the Urchins.

The 2008 championship was the second in his career as he also won the Individual Championship in 2004.

His career-best time was 16:40 at the East Union/Myrtle Challenge while he recorded a time of 16:42.8 at the State Cross-Country meet.

Epting did not lose to a Mississippi runner his senior year and earned first place honors at the Pontotoc Invitational, Tippah Lake Invitaional, East Union/Myrtle Challenge, Union County Championship, Division Champions, and State Championships.

He finised ranked number six in the state and was the only person from Union County to win the Union County Individual Championship two years straight in 2007 and 2008.
