Union Co. Schools hold tryouts for “Oklahoma!”

The wagon trains will be heading east to Union County this Spring when the Union County School District hosts the Rodgers & Hammerstein production of “Oklahoma!” the weekend of April 17 and 18 at the Magnolia Civic Center.

The musical will star many of the school district’s students from East Union, Myrtle, Ingomar and West Union and is being directed by Clint Reed, recently hired by the county school board to produce and direct the musical.

Auditions were held this past weekend for the production, with 33 students from the county’s four schools displaying their acting and singing talents.

The cast list includes the following seven main characters:  Curly – Tyler Jackson of Ingomar, Laurey – Aimee Walker of Myrtle, Aunt Eller – Lakin Potts of Ingomar, Judd Fry – Austin Copeland of East Union, Will Parker – Alex Diaz of Ingomar, Ado Annie – Carmen Valle of East Union and Ali Hakeem – Kyle Tanner of Myrtle.

Supporting characters include:  Andrew Carnes – Thomas Rakestraw of East Union, Ike Skidmore – Matthew Bagwell of East Union and Gertie Cummings – Claire Wise of Ingomar.

Other supporting female and male characters will be played by Autumn Benefield of West Union, Marti-Brooke Wray of Ingomar, Lauren Langston of Ingomar, Whitley Blankenship of East Union, Hannah Easley of East Union, Drew Bruce of East Union, Jose L. Valle of East Union, David Hannaford of East Union, Trey Chadwick of East Union, Braxton Dowdy of Ingomar, Brooks Rhea of Ingomar and Jacob Collins of East Union.

Chorus members include Jessica Clark of West Union, Emily Canoy of West Union, Bailey Littlejohn of Ingomar, Nolan Higin of East Union, Jessica Scott of East Union, Benyanka Sanders of Ingomar, Lana Stanton of East Union, Kaitlyn Collins of East Union, Amber Hester of East Union, Sarah Reed of East Union and Betsy McCarter of East Union.
