Myrtle drops two, West Union wins division

Lafayette 11 Myrtle 5

Montez Phillips led the 4A Commodores over Myrtle on Saturday, downing the Hawks 11-5.

Myrtle held the 2-1 advantage before Lafayette scored the next nine runs to take the lead and the win.

Myrtle was held to six hits, while giving up 10, and the Hawks had four errors in the game.

West Union 15 Myrtle 4

Hunter McQuary led the way with two homeruns, as the Eagles defeated Myrtle 15-4.

Leading 6-4, the Eagles exploded with seven runs in the fourth inning.

Devin Brock picked up the win for the Eagles, giving up four runs on five hits, while West Union had 12 hits.

Wesley Jumper, Bo Garrett, Caleb English and Luke Waite joined McQuary with multiple hits, including a double by Garrett.

Jimel Judon and Bo Cummings were the bright spot for the Hawks as each had a home run for Myrtle.

With the victory, West Union wins their division.

East Union 11 Mantachie 1

The Urchins picked up the win on Senior Night, defeating the Mustangs by 10.

East Union led 4-1 before producing seven hits in the fifth inning to pull away for the win.

Craig Bullock improved to 9-1, as he only allowed one run on three hits.

C.J. Armstrong and Matthew Carter had multiple hits, including a double by Carter. Bullock also contributed offensively with a double.

Corinth 4 New Albany 1

Corinth had four runs off 10 hits, as the downed the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Sawyer Wheatley picked up the loss for the ‘Dawgs, who could only score one run despite seven hits.

Tyler Basil led New Albany offensively with multiple hits.
