Urchin News

Hello my fellow Urchins!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and are ready to put the nose to the grindstone while we enter the final few weeks at school!

The Urchin baseball team celebrated their Senior Night with a win against Mantachie last Saturday, April 11th.  Congrats guys!  They will kick off the playoffs this weekend!  Good luck guys!  Also in sports, we want to extend our good luck wishes to the Urchin Archery team as they participate in an annual tournament in Louisville.  Good luck to all!

Thursday, April 9th, the Junior class hosted the Junior/Senior prom at the Pontotoc Country Club.  The theme was “Treasure the Night.”  The decorations were beautiful, the music was excellent, and the food was superb!  A big thanks goes out to all those who helped make the night possible, especially the Junior class sponsors, Mrs. Kelly Robbins, Mrs. Mary Ann Epting, and Mr. Tim McDonald, and also to Mrs. Leslie Ray.

Friday, April 17th, the 4th grade will be traveling to the New Albany Fairgrounds to attend a safety presentation.  They will learn what to do in emergencies around the home and will also learn how to be safe around farm equipment.  We wish them a safe trip!

The Special Olympics is scheduled for next Monday, April 20th.  Good luck to all participants and volunteers!  Show that Urchin pride!  Also scheduled for next Monday, the athletic teams will gather together for the Urchin Athletic Banquet!  Way to work hard throughout the seasons athletes!

We want to wish a safe travels to the TSA and FBLA club.  Tuesday, April 21st, the EU TSA chapter will be leaving early in the morning to go to Jackson for competition.  They will return on Wednesday.  FBLA will be leaving on Wednesday for competitions in Jackson and will get back Friday.

For everyone who ordered a pizza kit from the TSA team or yearbook staff, the kits will be delivered this coming Monday.

The verse of the week comes from Psalm 107:13, “Lord help! they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.”  The Lord is our strength and our peace.  In times of trials and tribulations, we have to remember to call on Him to lift us up and to guide us in the right path.  Only then can we truly have to strength that we need to overcome the problems that life throws out at us.

I hope everyone has a blessed week and remember, “IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE AN URCHIN!”
