Lady Eagles hold on at EU

Leah Paige Goolsby and Allie Newby scored in double figures, as West Union held on for a six-point win over East Union, 45-39, Tuesday night.
The Lady Urchins held a one-point advantage after the first frame before being outscored 25-17 over the next two quarters.
Goolsby lead West Union with 15 points, followed by Newby with 12. Ashley Leach scored a game-high 19 points for East Union, while Dezjarna Bryant added 17 points.
East Union 71 West Union 64 (b)
The Eagles started strong against East Union, but could not hold on to that intensity, falling 71-64 against the Urchins.
Ahead 21-13 after the first, each team scored 17 second quarter points, giving the Eagles the edge at the half. The Urchins outscored West Union 41-28 in the second half to improve to 3-5 on the season.
Trey Barkley led the Urchins with 22 points, followed by Chris Tables with 13 and Kirk Fryar with 11.
For the Eagles, Chase Taylor scored 23 points and Kyle Taylor added 13 points, followed by Austin Harkness with 10.
West Union will travel to Tupelo Christian this Friday, while East Union will host Walnut next Tuesday.
Myrtle 69 Blue Mountain 34 (g)
The Lady Hawks earned their seventh win of the season, second in a row, going on the road to defeat Blue Mountain, 69-34, Tuesday night.
Myrtle poured on 25 points in each of the game’s first two quarters, taking a demanding 50-13 lead to the halftime break.
Aspriona Gilbert led Myrtle with 23 points, followed by Halle Knowles with 17 and Armani Hill with 10 points.
Myrtle 89 Blue Mountain 70 (b)
Myrtle completed the Tuesday road sweep with the boys returning to the .500 mark and defeating Blue Mountain, 89-70.
Russ Yates led the Hawks with 22 points in a game that saw Myrtle jump to a 10 point lead after the first quarter.
Heriah Dodson, Steven Taylor and Robert Montgomery each scored in double figures for Myrtle (5-5), scoring 14, 14 and 12 points respectively.
