Northeast baseball offers pair of winter clinics

Northeast Mississippi Community College’s baseball program is reminding area athletes that its winter baseball clinics are a week away and athletes that register for both sessions will see substantial savings in their camp fees.

Northeast will hold a pair of winter baseball camps for athletes inside the college’s five-county district on Saturday, December 11 and Sunday, December 12.
Athletes from Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties are encouraged to participate and register early for the camps.
Northeast will offer a two-session camp on Saturday, December 11 at Harold T. White Field at the Booneville City Park where athletes will receive individualized instruction from Northeast coaching staff as well as current Tiger baseball players.
Emphasis will be placed on hitting and fielding mechanics, as well as base running and situational instruction.
Saturday, December 11’s camp opens with a three-hour session from 9 a.m. until noon for athletes ranging from age six through the eighth grade.
The second session for the day will extend from 1-4 p.m. and is open to athletes in the ninth through twelfth grades.
Pre-registration is encouraged for the camps and participants can save by registering early. For those registering early, the cost is $40 or $50 the day of the camp. Pre-registration for the camp ends Friday, December 3.
On Sunday, December 12, Northeast will offer a pitching and catching camp for high school athletes from 1:30-4 p.m. at Harold T. White Field in Booneville.
Camp fees are $40 for pitchers and $30 for catchers and each athlete will receive individualized instruction from Northeast coaches as well as current Tiger baseball players.
An additional advantage to the pitching/catching camp is that each pitcher will receive a DVD of their pitching performance at the camp and Northeast assistant coach Clint McAuley will also be giving a video mechanics analysis on the DVD as well so players can work on their mechanics.
Athletes do receive discounts if attending both Saturday and Sunday camps. Pitchers attending both weekend camps can register for $60 – a $20-30 discount – while catchers can register for both days for $50.
