New Albany earns fourth straight win

New Albany picked up their fourth straight win, closing out a successful week with a 14-5 win over Kossuth on Saturday.


Drew Wray and Riley Alef each had three hits for the Bulldogs, who trailed the Aggies early, 1-0 in the first. After that point, New Albany scored 10 straight over three innings.

Leading 10-1 in the fourth, Kossuth scored four runs off three hits and two Bulldog errors. Relieving Mason Maxey in the fifth, Tyler Beaty and Joshua Googe combined to allow only one hit for Kossuth in the final three innings.

New Albany opened the sixth with an error and five straight hits, scoring four more runs with Maxey, J.D. Morris and Taylor Goode with RBI singles.

Wray finished 3-for-5 and Alef 3-for-4 with a double and triple, while Morris, Maxey, Andrew Balard and Goode each had two hits for New Albany.

Heath Woods led the Aggies with two hits.

Earlier in the week, New Albany picked up two division wins over Itawamba, 7-6 on Tuesday and 9-3 on Friday.

 The Bulldogs will next play on Tuesday, hosting Pontotoc.
