Northeast splits with Jones County in Ellisville

Jermaine Hollimon led the charge for Northeast on the hardwood with 16 points to help push the Tigers to a 5-0 start by defeating the Jones County Bobcats 84-72.
DavidRobbins’ squad led 42-35 at the break and outscored Jones County Junior College in the second half 42-37 to secure the road victory and remain undefeated.
Northeast shot 50-percent from the floor, 42-percent from behind the arc and managed to hit 71-percent of its free throws.
Jonesshot 37-percent from the floor, 54-percent from the charity stripe and was 1-for-24 from downtown.
Other top performers for Robbins were TyQuan Lucious who added 13 points and four rebounds while Levon Hooks dropped in 12 points and eight boards on the night.
In the opener, Brian Alexander’s team fell to the Lady Bobcats 78-71 despite a 28-point, eight-rebound effort by Anna Brooke Page.
Northeast struggled from behind the arc shooting 0-for-7 and did not fair much betterfrom the floor landing 26-of-63 (41-percent) but did hit 81-percent of its free throws.
Shunquest Howell scored 19 points while Amber Jackson added eight points and four boards on the evening.
With the loss, the Lady Tigers dropped to 3-2 overall while Jones moved to 3-0 on the season.
Northeast’s next game will be November 28 at Meridian with the women tipping off at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m.
