Holly Springs uses big second half in win over Hawks

Holly Springs erased an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat Myrtle, 73-64, on Tuesday.
Jonathan West led Myrtle to a 36-28 lead at the break, scoring 15 points and making three triples in the first half, and the Hawks led by as many as 13 in the second quarter.
Paris Scruggs and DeAndre Griffin led the charge for Holly Springs in the third quarter, scoring 20 of the Hawks’ 22 points. Scruggs tied the game at 45 early in the third, and Griffin gave Holly Springs the lead off his three-pointer, 48-45.
Leading by one going into the fourth, Holly Springs made five three-pointers in the final quarter to distance themselves, leading by as many as 11. Myrtle would come within single digits, as West hit two triples in the frame.
West led Myrtle with 24 points, followed by Robert Montgomery with 20. Phillip Young hit three three-pointers, finishing 11 points.
Holly Springs was led by Griffin with 21 points, followed by Scruggs with 12 and Rodney Redmond finished with 11 points, including two three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Halle Knowles connected on four three-pointers en route to a 38-point win for Myrtle on Tuesday.
The senior hit three triples in the second, while Aspriona Gilbert scored 19 of her 20 points in the half.
Myrtle’s defense held Holly Springs to only two made field goals in the first half, with the first coming off a three-pointer by Keshauna Payton at the 5:12 mark of the second quarter.
Kenyada Burns led Holly Springs with six points.
Myrtle defeated Holly Springs, 58-38, on Nov. 17.
Myrtle’s next game will be on the road, traveling to Belmont on Tuesday, Nov. 29 and they will host Ingomar on Friday, Dec. 2.
