West Union holds on for division win

West Union picked up a big division win on Tuesday, defeating Pine Grove, 11-7.

The Lady Eagles led throughout, scoring five runs in the first with RBI hits from Bailey bogue, Hannah McQuary, Brittany Taylor and Callie Baggett.

The Lady Panthers managed a run in the second, but West made it 7-1 after McQuary and Taylor drove in runs in the bottom of the inning.

Pine Grove made it a three-run game, opening the inning with a double and scoring on an error and a double. A two-run triple by McQuary and RBI hits from Bogue and Taylor distanced the Lady Eagles once more at 11-4.

Pine Grove did not back down, scoring three runs off three straight singles in the fifth, but the Lady Eagles’ defense held the Lady Panthers in the final two innings to take the win.

McQuary led West Union with three hits, while Julianna Garner, Bogue, Taylor and Baggett each had two hits. West Union is scheduled to play Myrtle on Thursday and Ingomar next Tuesday.
