Lady Eagles pick up road win at Myrtle

West Union fought off a tough Lady Hawk squad on Tuesday, picking up a 48-34 win on the road.
The Lady Eagles went ahead 11-5 early in the game on a 7-0 run, with four points from Gracen Conlee. Meshay Cox gave Myrtle its first lead at 13-12.
Myrtle led at the half, 16-14, and the two teams traded the lead throughout the third quarter before Marley Long gave West Union its final lead.
Long scored the final two baskets of the quarter, and Jesslyn Brewer opened the fourth with a three-pointer, followed by a basket from Gracen Conlee, putting the Lady Eagles up by 10.
West Union was on a 13-0 run that started in the fourth quarter, and Cox broke that run with a basket with  4:37 remaining. The senior led Myrtle with 16 points, 10 scored in the second half.
Julianna Garner led the Lady Eagles with 14 points, followed by 11 points from Gracen Conlee.

Robert Montgomery and Keon each scored 25 points to lead the Hawks to a 15-point win over West Union.
Myrtle led 32-21 at the half, but the Eagles made it a single-digit game in the third quarter. Montgomery and Hampton combined for 18 of Myrtle’s 23 fourth quarter points, helping create distance for the Hawks.
Chase Taylor led West Union with 23 points, followed by 13 points from Tyler Wooley.
