Thomas Simmons, 55

Thomas Murry Simmons, 55, of Blue Mountain, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Tippah County Hospital.

He was born Sept. 16, 1957, in Tippah County to Jessie Eddie King and Ruby Simmons. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran. He was married to Mary Louise Lesure Simmons; they had one child. In later life he joined with Elaine Hill.

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Antioch M. B. Church in Blue Mountain. Burial was in Antioch-Academy Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lesure Simmons of New Albany; a daughter, Latoyra (Evan) Johnson of Baldwyn; his mother, Ruby Simmons Cook of Blue Mountain; five stepchildren, Steavon Lesure and Tulane (Latoya) Simmons of New Albany, Valeira (Corey) Woods of Baldwyn, David Lesure of Memphis and Chaddrick McDonald of Columbus, Ohio; his siblings, Willis Cook Jr. and Twadie Fitzpatrick of Milwaukee, David Lee (Mary) Cook of New Albany, Vickie (Larry) Cox of Blue Mountain, Charlett Edgeston of Ripley, Vashawn Cook of Georgia, James King, Ronnie King, Brenda King and NaNa King, all of Racine, Barbara Ferguson of Blue Mountain, Gwen Cook of Guntown and Johnny Johnson of Tupelo; his companion, Elaine Hill of Blue Mountain; two grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren.
