‘You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown’ opens Thursday

The Broadway musical based on the comic characters created by Charles Schultz is being performed by the Tallahatchie River Players at the Cine’ Theatre Thursday, through Saturday, March 7-9 at 7:30 each night.

The popular show follows the Peanuts gang through a single day as Charlie Brown pines for the little red-headed girl, Linus wants to daydream, Snoopy takes on his alter ego and Lucy is just Lucy.

“You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” opened exactly 46 years ago on March 7, 1967 and played for 1,597 performances in New York at the theatre 80 St. Marks with Gary Burghoff  – later M*A*S*H’s Radar – in the title role. It has since been revived several times and performed nearly countless times around the country. Book, music and lyrics are by Clark Gesner and additional dialogue is by Michael Mayer.

The TRF production is directed by John-Peter Ford and the cast includes: Charlie Brown – Austin Fitts; Linus Van Pelt – Ellie Fitts; Lucy Van Pelt – Tori Baldwin; Schroeder – Reid Williams; Patty – Madison Eldridge; Snoopy – Stephen Brock; and Wood Stock – Donna Cobb.
