Hawks fall to Alcorn Central

Alcorn Central used a three-run fifth inning to move past Myrtle, winning 4-2 on Saturday.
The Bears struck first, stealing home and taking the 1-0 lead. The Hawks quickly answered in the bottom of the frame, placing runners on the corners and Anthony Lipsey coming home on a wild pitch to tie the game.

The score remained tied at one until the fifth, when the Bears loaded the bases with one out. A hit batter gave Alcorn Central the lead, followed by an RBI single and a Hawk error, making it 4-1.
The Hawks made it a two-point game in the bottom of the fifth, as Zack Perkins brought home Austin Floyd on a double. Floyd reached base on a lead off double to open the inning. Perkins led the Hawks with four hits in the game.
Myrtle will be on the road this week, playing at Bozeman, Blountstown and Port St. Joe, Florida. Ingomar is also in Flordia, taking on Bozeman and Blountstown, and East Union will play in Alabama throughout spring break.
Myrtle will next be at home on March 19, hosting Ashland, while Ingomar will host Coldwater and East Union will host Coldwater.
Games this week include New Albany playing four games at the Oxford Spring Break Tournament, while West Union will host Vardaman on Saturday. The Bulldogs will open division play next Tuesday, traveling to Lafayette, while West Union will host H.W. Byers.
