Mary Billings, 98

Mary Lucille Hendrix Lindsey Billings, 98, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Union County Health and Rehab after a brief illness.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1915, in Prentiss County. She is a charter member of Temple Baptist Church in Myrtle. She volunteered as a Gray Lady at the old Shands Hospital and later at Union County General Hospital. She was generous in helping others. Her favorite hobby was cooking and sharing with family and friends.
Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at United Funeral Service chapel in New Albany with the Rev. Danny Bryant and the Rev. Donnie Schuman officiating. Burial was in Gerizim Cemetery in Myrtle.
She is survived by a son, David Lindsey (Connie); a stepdaughter, Mary Billings Daschner; 11 grandchildren; and a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was married for 31 years to her husband, the late Urban Lindsey, and later, for 13 years to the late Carmack Billings. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James E. Hendrix and Ella Reese Hendrix; brother, Howard Hendrix; two sisters, Syble Mayes and Bessie Graham; three sons, Jimmy Lindsey (Helen), Robert Lindsey (Jolene) and Charles Lindsey (Rose); one grandson, Jesse Lindsey; and a great-great-grandson, Craig Foley.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Temple Baptist Church in Myrtle.
