Joseph Jones Jr., 58

Joseph E. “J.J.” Jones Jr., 58, of Dumas, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.
He was born Nov. 28, 1954, to Joseph E. Jones Sr. and Emma Lucille Lee Jones. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He was owner and operator of a convenience store in Booneville. He was a Daily Journal carrier for the Dumas and Pine Grove area and a truck driver for Fryar Sawmill for 30 years. He loved his family and was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Ripley Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Randy Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Delaine Bishop Jones of Dumas; four daughters, Symanthia Guthrie (Allen) of Blue Springs, Shelia Mattox (Norman) of Sherman, Melissa Shouse (James) of Booneville and Angela Hancock (Shane) of Ripley; one sister, Bertha Ann Cobb of New Albany; and five grandchildren, Trey, Zack, Heather, Jasmine and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Steve Gibens, Allen Guthrie, Norman Mattox, James Shouse, Shane Hancock, Stan Norris, Paul Gibens and Jerry McKay. Honorary pallbearers were Hank Chapman, Royce “Hop” Gibens, Tyler Thomason and Robert A. Fryar.
