Edna Snyder, 90

Edna Sloan Snyder, 90, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 20, 1922, in Union County to the late John Thomas Sloan and Hattie T. Chandler Sloan. She was retired after 25 years of service as a dorm proctor at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville and cafeteria manager of the New Albany City Schools. She loved her family, and enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Albany and the Glory Sunshine Sunday School Class.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at United Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Whit Lewis officiating. Burial was in the New Albany City Cemetery. United Funeral Service in New Albany was in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Lynn Snyder Peterson, Martha Gwyn (Jerry) and Margaret Snyder; two sons, Jimmy Snyder (Betty) and David Snyder (Ann); six grandchildren, Jeff Snyder (Tina), Jason Snyder (Amy), Ashleigh Peterson, Meaghan Peterson Edwards (Matthew), Allison Parsons (Blake) and McKenzie Masters; five great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Deborah Basinger (Van) and Lisbeth Spillers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Goodman Snyder; an infant son; a sister, Shirley Sloan Swords; and two nephews John Gaston Swords and Robert Lewis Swords.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Snyder, Jeff Snyder, Jason Snyder, David Snyder, Dalton Snyder, Payton Snyder and Jadon Snyder.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church’s Building Fund, New Albany, Miss.
