MYRTLE – A Blue Springs woman was killed early Wednesday morning when a train collided with her vehicle at a Myrtle railroad crossing.

Nina Lyles, 51, of Blue Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Union County Coroner Pam Bowman.

Bowman said the vehicle was not identifiable due to damage, but it was clear she was crossing a railroad crossing on Graham Avenue around 5 a.m. when the train and her vehicle collided.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office and Burlington Northern Santa Fe are investigating the collision.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said they don’t suspect anything out of the ordinary at this time but are still looking into the accident.
