RIPLEY – A Ripley man seriously injured in a weekend assault was released from the hospital Wednesday.
Kedrick Storey, 36, a sports writer for the Southern Sentinel, sustained head injuries when he and a friend got into a fight with several other people in a bank parking lot on City Avenue North about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Storey was released Wednesday from North Mississippi Medical Center. He had been airlifted to the hospital Saturday.
Ripley Police Chief Scott White said one person has been arrested in connection with the case, which remains under investigation. Jermaine Hayes, 29, of Ripley, is currently charged with aggravated assault and is currently jailed on a hold from the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
