VICKSBURG — A 10-year-old Vicksburg boy is in critical condition at a Jackson hospital after being shot in the head at his home Monday night.

Police Capt. Bobby Stewart says 10-year-old Jerald Tucker Jr. suffered a single gunshot wound at about 9:40 p.m. Monday. Stewart says the investigation is continuing.

Tucker is in critical condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, according to UMMC spokesman Jack Mazurak.

Police say the boy was transported to UMMC around midnight from River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg.

Police say the boy’s father was at work. They say the body was at home with two siblings and a friend of one of the siblings.
