NATCHEZ — A deer camera in Adams County did double duty as a surveillance camera.

The Natchez Democrat reports that two men accused of stealing a 2011 Ford F-150 truck and $40,000 in tools were arrested in Texas after a deer camera photographed the truck leaving Aldridge Operation Co. property.

Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield says Harris County deputies recovered the truck on Thursday after a license plate check.

The newspaper quotes a sheriff’s office spokesperson as saying Justin Ferrill and Casey Meng Shivers are awaiting extradition from Harris County.

It was not clear whether they had an attorney.

The sheriff’s office spokesperson says the theft of the truck was reported April 14, and a deer camera photographed it leaving the area at 1:26 a.m. that morning.
