TUPELO – Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton appointed a new citizen volunteer to the committee that works to improve major city streets and another to make decisions related to tourism, festivals and other events.

The appointments of Wesley Webb to the Major Thoroughfare Committee and Wesley Wells to the Convention & Visistors Bureau received unanimous City Council approval Tuesday.

Webb, a Tupelo real estate agent, will be one of 18 members on the Thoroughfare Committee, which recommends five-year plans to improve city traffic flow approved by voters and supported by a special 10-mill tax.

Wells will serve a fifth term as the mayor’s representative on the Convention & Visitors Bureau Board, which promotes tourism in the city.
