2011 Elvis Festival Announces the Return of “Riding With the King” with a purse of approximately $15K

Tupelo, Miss – Producers of the 2011 Elvis Festival are excited to announce the return of “Riding With the King” as an additional event during this year’s festival on Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th.

Three races are included with a total purse of approximately $15,000 in cash and prizes with the top prizes in each category guaranteed.. In addition, all proceeds will go to a number of select local charities, including Sanctuary Hospice House and All Saints’ Brew Mission.

Organizers are currently seeking sponsors for the race at multiple levels beginning with the Title Sponsorship, Maillot Jaune (Yellow Jersey), at $3,000. The title sponsor will receive logo placards on pace vehicles, prime banner placement, logo on t-shirts and all materials as well as two VIP Passes to the Festival. Additional sponsorship levels below $3000 include Directeur Sportif, Echelon, Peleton, and Domestique and will receive incremental benefits.

“We are so excited to bring the race back,” said Josh Westmoreland, one of the original race organizers from the early 2000’s. “Cyclist all over the Southeast have asked for it because it is one of the most unique courses in the South and we expect to have over 250 competitors in Tupelo.”

Race opportunities include a Saturday morning Circuit Race through downtown Tupelo which is a winding course through historic residential neighborhoods. A professional style rolling enclosure ensures safety and fast racing for $5,000 in cash and prizes. Other races include the Saturday afternoon Time Trial with cash and prizes of $1,500 and the Sunday Criterium, a challenging, fast six corner course in the Main Street business district with $5,000 in cash and prizes. Along with the individual races there will also be a concurrent Omnium with a total prize list of $2,500.

Riders can enter any event individually but must complete all events to qualify for the Omnium. Entry fee is $35 per race or $75 for the omnium. Riders wishing to compete in multiple categories may pay $100 and compete in any event for which they qualify.
