MAGNOLIA, Miss. (AP) — Two adults and an infant were killed Christmas evening in an accident on Interstate 55 near Magnolia, according to Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman.
Pittman says autopsies are being conducted.
He says 21-year-old Steven C. Watts of Summit; his one-month-old son Steven Watts Jr.; and 20-year-old Rhonda Jones of Osyka were killed about 7 p.m. Sunday when Watts’ car reportedly ran off the road and struck the cable system separating the lane from the median.
The vehicle reportedly went airborne and landed in the northbound lane where it was hit by another vehicle. The condition of the driver of the second vehicle was not known.
Pittman says the elder Watts and Jones were thrown from the vehicle and the child was found dead inside the car.
