HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — The Forrest County sheriff’s deputies have arrested 32 people for illegal gambling. Deputies say the suspects were placing bets on college and professional football games.
Sheriff Billy McGee tells The Hattiesburg American (http://hatne.ws/s7poQY ) the arrests occurred at a home in Hattiesburg on Sunday at around 10 a.m.
McGee said sheriff’s officials began watching the house after receiving reports from the community about activity at the residence.
He says more than $5,000 was seized from the house.
