Clarification: Harveys invites customers to join them at any of the three Harveys locations the week of February 27, to enjoy some favorites from the 1982 menu at the 1982 prices

Harveys Restaurant celebrates its 30th birthday next week. It has locations in Starkville, Columbus and Tupelo. The Eat With Us Group owns 24 restaurants, including the Harveys locations, Sweet Peppers Deli, Fairpark Grill and Park Heights.
Tupelo resident Bernard Bean is the COO and co-owner of the company. He spoke with business reporter Carlie Kollath about the restaurant.

Q: How did Harveys get started?
A: In 1982, my brother, John, my mother, Myrrl, and our family friend, Harvey Seifert, started the business in Starkville.
Harvey was the namesake. I was washing dishes, busing tables and doing gruntwork. In 1989, we opened in Tupelo. Harvey passed away shortly after we opened the Tupelo store. That’s when I became a partner in the business.

Q: Why isn’t there an apostrophe in Harveys?
A: I don’t know why it didn’t get it.

Q: Are you doing anything special for the 30th birthday?
A: Monday through Saturday of next week (February 27) we will be doing six to eight menu items at the prices that we had back in 1982. A reuben for $1.95. Marinated steak for $8.95. Each day will be different and it’s for dine-in only.
All three communities really embraced us and supported us throughout the years.
We have great, loyal customers and this is our way of saying “thank you.”
