BATESVILLE — A Batesville city judge has sent the case of Marico Fondren to a grand jury that will decide whether to indict him for murder.
The Panolian reports that Fondren is one of four men charged with the Jan. 16 shooting death in Batesville of Jeremy Wright. His preliminary hearing was this past week.
Prosecutors have said the slaying was gang-related.
Two other defendants, Michael Dishmon and Marcus Wheatley, had their preliminary hearings two weeks ago. They also were bound over to the grand jury.
There has been no preliminary hearing yet for the fourth defendant, Michael Fondren.
Prosecutors have said all four are affiliated with the “Mafia” Vice Lords, a gang which is a rival to the Gangster Disciples — to which Wright allegedly belonged.
