SOUTHAVEN — Toyota, FedEx Ground and Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding are a few of the companies that have signed up for a state-sponsored job fair in Southaven Tuesday.
The event could be a major draw in a tough economy if last year’s job fair sponsored by the Governor’s Job Fair Network at the DeSoto Civic Center is an indicator. That event brought out 2,500 people seeking jobs.
Adam Todd, the director of the Governor’s Job Fair Network, tells The Commercial Appeal during last year’s job fair, 1,023 job offers were issued to applicants and 639 people were projected to have been hired throughout the course of last year.
At this year’s job fair, Todd said to date, 52 companies have signed up to participate.
