6 indicted for exploitation of vulnerable adults

JACKSON — Attorney General Jim Hood says six people are accused of taking $25,785 from eight residents of Belhaven Senior Care in Jackson.

Those charged include a social worker and an administrator

In each case, social worker Ponchie McCollough is accused of misappropriating residents’ funds under the guise of paying down accumulated funds so that residents would not lose Medicaid benefits.

Hood says the money was instead taken by McCollough and other coconspirators.

Hood says there were 21 separate incidents of exploitation.
